YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE ONE THING.
It has been exactly a month since I last sat at my desk writing about my thoughts.
I now find myself waking up before the sun coming home to the moon.
My lifestyle has changed and when I look back to this day last year I was a completely different person.
Reflection is very helpful for me as I am able to see how I am growing through life.
This time last year I was still overcoming my low self esteem and I was packing for my trip to Dallas, Texas.
Now, I’d like to think I am a soul who promotes self-acceptance and self-love.
I used to be someone to plan everything and anything.
I love planning my adventures, my routines and even the future.
This year certain things didn’t go to plan.
Such as friendships or relationships but from that, I now appreciate life even more.
There is no greater or better time than now.

As much as I live a busy lifestyle I like to always have time to myself.
If you don’t make time for yourself, who will you make time for?
It’s now the time of year when everyone is speaking about what they want for 2015.
It is tradition to write a list of everything I want to complete for the year. For the next 365 days.
Last year these were some of the things I wrote.
"Reach 2.5k subscribers.
Make a blog.
Bring Happy Froday to life.
Make peace with my past.
One year with no heat."
At the time I thought I could wake up one morning and put everything behind me.
I can, if I wanted to. But I want to look back at my mistakes and learn from them.
We are all human. We are supposed to make mistakes but it’s how you accept and move on from them.
That is what is important.
The man who learned from his downfall and turned his dreams into reality is the man who took these pictures.
Pete Monsanto, to the world he is known as Fly Life Images.
Today he reflects on where he was two years ago and where he is now.

I took a job with NYC two years ago because, well it was a smart thing to do.
I have hustle hours that stay out of my photography passion.
I make a nice little envelope of money, full medical and a pension.
Some would say “Why don’t you want to chase your photo passion full time?” I do though. Everyday.
Most successful people have more than one stream of income.
I started my week this week by a pool in 80 degree weather. I do whatever the hell I want actually.
So me working here is sort of a not-so-secret type of secret.
Some of you know. I have a telecommunications background.
I’m not gonna waste my talents. I’ll make it pay me.
A couple of my pals and very successful photographer friends have jobs.
I hope they don’t feel like I’m outing them but Dennis Cacho, Karl Ferguson and Joe Chea have them.
They can school you about making sure that bread is constantly flowing.
Think like this. If you want to get married and have kids do you want that medical expense to be on you?
I sure as hell don’t. It’s simply just being smart. What if I get sick?
The tab is on work not me! More people go broke paying medical bills than gambling and shopping combined.
Shit happens. Slow seasons I sleep very well because I’m not worried one bit. It’s a nice security blanket.
Plan your future everyday because who want to be 65 and struggling?
The lesson.
You don’t have to be one thing. Exhaust all of your talents.
And hustle! Lol
Happy Anniversary to me.
Peace.
Pete Monsanto.
