Before I learnt this, I conformed to everything that was in trend.
My Mum has always been a big influence in my style,
as when I was younger she would dress me up in Baby Phat and so many American brands.
I loved how cool I looked but people in my school would laugh at me for my "urban" look.
From then, I started to wear what everyone else did just to feel accepted.

I had the opportunity to shoot with Joshua Brathwaite in Notting Hill on a Froday!
I always love meeting photographers, they all have a unique story.
Joshua loves to create art or "magic" as he called it.
Before we met, me and my cousin Taffy scrolled through his Instagram to refresh my memory of his work.
I noticed, I was different from his muses.
I began to worry as my style was a lot more colourful and vibrant in comparison to everyone else.
I was reminded that change is good and we all have our own look.
Don't try to change it.
I found a deep love for African prints.
They express my heritage and my culture without following the traditional look.
The bold and bright colours make such a statement that I adore.
If I had to describe my style I'd say it's a mixture of Solange Knowles and Hilary Banks!

My favourite places to find prints are Forever 21 and TK Maxx,
Especially since they aren't expensive.
For me, the best way to wear prints is to either mix and match
or have one key statement piece and wear bright colours with it.
I did just that with this outfit as it was this Kimono's first day out I wanted it to be the main piece.
I bought the yellow dress for £9 from Forever 21 and paired it all up with my favourite accessories.
Each day is a new day to be free with what you wear.
Even though I am a student, I like to feel good in what I wear each day.
If I wear things which I don't feel comfortable in, it is reflected on my mood.
Don't hold onto clothes either, it's refreshing to donate old clothes making room for new ones.
A place where I love to shop is my Mum's wardrobe,
everything is free and most likely never been worn!
Don't worry about what people say about you or your style.
It is about your happiness! Embrace who you are.
